Reflection captures the energy of Tokyo at night, where a crowd of people moves through the famous intersection under a canopy of umbrellas. Rain slicks the pavement, transforming the city streets into a shimmering surface that reflects the vibrant glow of neon and headlights. Through layered brushwork and luminous color, the painting conveys the rhythm and density of urban life — a fleeting moment of beauty found in the intersection of light, water, and movement. This two-part work explores the shifting relationship between structure and spontaneity. In Gather, a carefully composed still life arranges vivid forms — rubber duckies, bright flowers, and playful objects — within the boundaries of a single vessel. In Scatter, the same objects are undone and set loose across the canvas, mingling with books, shoes, and printed materials. Through bold color, dynamic movement, and everyday imagery, the paintings invite reflection on the fragile balance between control and release, and the surprising beauty that emerges when order gives way to freedom.
